Kindle Part Deux

My Kindle broke.

The screen was striped.

I called Amazon on New Year’s Eve (because that’s how I roll! Staying in & reading my Kindle, whoop!). Talked to a real person within five minutes.

Was told that a replacement Kindle would be in the mail immediately. And that it wouldn’t cost me a dime.

(It was under the year warranty).

I have to say: Wow.

That is great customer service.

A book is a wonderful, perfect invention. It never breaks. It always works. It is portable. You can take it with you wherever you go.

But there are limits to books. They take up physical space. They’re heavy. You have to physically buy them or have them shipped or get yourself to a library to physically borrow them.

Whereas the Kindle is instanteous. One click and you instantly have your book. It is lightweight and easy to carry.

I will always love books. Always, always. I love the feel of them, the smell of them, the realness of them.

But I also have to say: I’m really digging the Kindle.

So much I bought my husband a Kindle Fire for Christmas, since I basically took over his first Kindle. And now we’re fighting over that one too.

We’ve watched movies in bed with it (“Exit Through the Gift Shop“).

I love how it’s backlit and doesn’t need a light attachment.

The only thing is that I can’t figure out how to write myself notes on it, so I don’t read my own work on it. That’s probably my own user error. If anybody knows how to do that, lemme know.

But still — Kindle. Lovin’ it.
