My home in Bon Air was also damaged in the severe thunderstorm on July 19. Three trees crashed into my home, piercing the roof and allowing rainwater to flood my home.
My husband, my two sons, ages 5 and 8, and I have been displaced for the past four months.
Throughout this process, I kept telling myself, “I just want to be back in my home for Thanksgiving.”
Because to me, that’s a home’s purpose. Not just to provide shelter and protection, but to serve as a space for a family to grow, to celebrate, to share their most important moments. And a home truly shines, for many, during the holidays.
A friend of mine was house hunting and said the first thing she looked for in every house was where to put the Christmas tree.
And that pretty much sums it up for me too.
